The Canadian Innovation Conversation
The Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) is a new, $40 million procurement program, launched as part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to promote Canada’s economic growth as announced in Budget 2010. This program is aimed at procuring pre-commercialized innovative goods and services for any Federal Government Department of Agency. The CICP also provides the opportunity for federal government to help businesses introduce innovations into the marketplace by providing an opportunity for companies to demonstrate the successful application of new concepts on a commercial scale. Through feedback from government end users, CICP helps companies improve their products and services, and prepares them to move towards commercialization.
Bridging the pre-commercialization gap:
• Enabling Canadian businesses to showcase their innovations to potential government buyers
• Awarding government contracts to entrepreneurs with pre-commercial innovations through an open, transparent, competitive and fair procurement process
• Testing and providing feedback to entrepreneurs on the performance of their products or services
• Empowering innovators with the opportunity to enter the marketplace with successful applications
• Helping businesses get information on how to do business with the Government of Canada
The official sources for information on the Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program are the program website - www.buyandsell.gc.ca/innovation
The CICP targets innovations in four priority areas:
§ Environment
§ Health
§ Enabling technologies
