Learn how to sell to the United States

This program is open to new exporters or companies with limited exporting experience only. If you are an experienced exporter but know of someone who may be eligible for this program please pass along this email. 

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Nova Scotia Business Inc. are currently seeking new exporters or companies with limited exporting experience in the United States to participate in an export education program in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Participants will travel to Raleigh and take part in workshops focused on educating them about how to export products and/or services to the United States and what to expect when entering the United States market.

Workshop topics may include the following:

  • Preparing for a new market
  • Selecting agents and distributors
  • Banking and legal considerations
  • Warehousing and distribution
  • Export financing and insurance
  • Customs clearance procedures
  • Immigration policies and requirements
  • Provincial and Federal Government programs

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have been in business for at least one year;
  • Have a manufacturing or service-base in Nova Scotia;
  • Be export-ready but have not currently exported your product or have limited export experience; and
  • Hold a valid passport required for air travel to the United States.

The participation fee of $250 includes airfare (up to a maximum of $800 and reimbursed upon return and submission of invoice and e-ticket), in-market ground transportation and an export education program including meetings specific to your product/service.

Participants are responsible for the cost of accommodations for 3 nights and meals. A preferred rate at a Raleigh, NC hotel will be available.

Special Offer:
All participants of the In-Market Export Educational Program to Raleigh are eligible to receive the services of the Export Mentoring program (up to $5,000 value) as part of their registration fee. 

The Export Mentoring program provides participants with up to 40 hours of export mentoring consulting services.  Participants will be matched with a consultant best suited to meet their needs.
