With the demand of new talent and immigration rates in Nova Scotia rising, having an intentional hiring strategy that acknowledges and appreciates candidates’ unique backgrounds is essential and contributes to a more diverse workforce in Nova Scotia.

In this workshop, attendees will explore how to design an effective EDI hiring strategy for their organization that acknowledges and celebrates unique abilities and experiences.  We will  look at the impact of diverse and inclusive teams and discuss proven strategies to target your talent search. Attendees will learn the importance of inclusive policy, engaged leadership, and employee education around EDI. We will also discuss potential community partnerships and available resources depending on your industry and recruitment needs.

Meet your presenter..

Sarah Mullins has been a leader in the human resource industry for over 25 years. After a lengthy corporate career working with high growth organizations she launched uptreeHR, a full service HR business partner for small businesses. She and her team educate and support Nova Scotia businesses in their efforts to attract and retain diverse teams as well as manage employee performance, develop inclusive policy, leadership training/coaching and general HR support. While workplace diversity has always been a passion for uptreeHR, it has become essential in today’s competitive labour market.
