Let’s talk about the role Ocean Technology plays in Managing our Oceans

Join Digital Nova Scotia and COVE, in celebration of World Oceans week as we discuss the technology being developed and used in ocean management. Our panelists will look ahead at what this could mean for the future of ocean tech and our oceans.

Meet Our Panelists:

Levi Morrison,  Director of Innovation at COVE

Levi’s responsibility is to lead and direct the development of on-shore and off-shore infrastructure to support client commercialization efforts and meet COVE’s objectives which include  decarbonization initiatives and Digital Harbour.

Levi holds over 10 years of engineering experience working with governmental and commercial entities to deliver quality results across diverse teams.

Levi has worked with teams in engineering, education, and communications to ensure that cross organizational objectives are met with consistency. While working with Ulnooweg as Senior Project Manager, Levi employed Agile and PMI methodologies in tandem with Indigenous knowledge and values to help operationalize the Education Centre in their implementation of a two-eyed seeing, community first approach to educational curriculum development and delivery. Levi has spoken at such conferences as Engineers Nova Scotia, Indigenous Technology Summit, and the Annual NB Engineering competition to share what he has learned through his journey.

Growing up with 8 siblings, Levi learned the value of building and maintaining strong communities and has found his calling in amplifying the existing talent of others. He had hosted and run the "Prose and Cons" poetry league in Halifax, run the Dartmouth Chapter for SHINE Academics, and lectures part time at Dalhousie University for Project Management in Engineering.

Anneke T. Doeschate, PhD Rockland Scientific - R&D Scientist

After an educational background in environmental science and physical oceanography I came to Canada in 2019 for a postdoc fellowship at Dalhousie, sponsored by the Ocean Frontier Institute. Here I built on and enhanced my experience with field-measurements of turbulence in the ocean surface boundary layer, obtained during my PhD at the University of Galway, Ireland. It was a logical step to work at Rockland Scientific, “Ocean turbulence experts” afterwards. At this company, based in Canada, I contribute to the review and improvement of new products and applications. I also have a role in customer support and training.
