Business 101 Series

"Is cloud computing a secure option to reduce IT costs while increasing efficiency?"

Cloud based solutions offer a way to enable distributed computing using applications running on the 'Cloud' or virtual servers provisioned via the internet. Users can access data and resources anywhere, anytime, on-demand, while IT departments benefit from enhanced scalability, better predictability and multi-location deployment that is only possible by leveraging the Cloud. While organizations recognize cost benefits to this model, questions about corporate data security and laws governing the storage of information within geographical boundaries may be a challenge to understand for some.

The hybrid cloud model utilizes on-premise storage for critical data in combination with public cloud offerings such as Microsoft's Office 365. Hosted Exchange, SharePoint and Lync amongst other options could offer your business the flexibility you're looking for without incurring huge capital expenditures deploying a traditional solution. From legal and insurance companies to educational institutions, the benefits of cloud can be experienced by all. In this discussion, we will focus on best practices centered around the Cloud and what might best suit your organization's IT needs. We will also address any concerns about data security, privacy, backup, disaster recovery and migration of your existing on-premise data to the cloud.

Speaker: Ron Singer, Director of Professional Services, ABM Integrated Solutions(ABMIS). Ron has over 20 years experience managing multiple projects in the areas for Retail, Mining, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Telecommunications and all levels of Government from Municipal to Provincial agencies and departments.
